Bitter Coffee and a Wall of Inspiration

currently listening to: Weezer / Buddy Holly
Dark coffee today...it's not quite a sugarry morning. I wasn't prepared for my physics test at 9 & I have a midterm exam and presentation for Design History later...arrrgghh... I tried studying last night, nothing registered...still preoccupied with thoughts on my book design project; gotta push it! DESIGN MORE, DESIGN BETTER...I need to find that balance though, gotta do it SOON. Maybe tomorrow, i'll go back to the slightly sweet java, but today...i'll settle for bitterness...By the way, the plain white walls in the living room of our dorm seems so blah...so I bought this magazine IDN (International Design Network) for $15, ripped the hell out of it and plastered the shit on the wall...Gotta have inspiration...Visuals get me going; Mohsen added a couple of car pictures...the whole wall itself is a design-in-progress...Norm said he'll put up he's tagged up Graffiti soon...GOOD STUFF.

San Francisco LOVE PARADE 2005

I was at downtown SF last saturday celebrating Love Parade with a bunch of roommies. Great Friends, Great Booze and a totally psyched out Experience. Dancing to JUNGLE beats is off the freakin heezy...

I took these pictures to document my experience and also for use on a design project. I'm able to capture the vibrance and energy of each character. OOBER awesome stuff.

48 hours

currently listening to: Feel Good Inc. / Gorillaz

The weather was gloomy today; i thought it was going to rain. A lot has happen'd in the past 2 days: i fried my first chicken, i bought my first lantern, i drank my 58th latte (ok maybe im exaggerating on the java but you get my point.)

I still can't believe i'm a San Franciscan now. A year ago, I would've never imagined this goal actually happening. This is technically my 4th week living in the city but it seems like i've lived here for the longest time; everything seems to fall in the right place at the right time...I guess that's one of the perks for planning ahead of time.

My experience here at State U. dorms is off the freakin heezy...I met a bunch of cool kids:
-a socialist
-a Pink Floydian
-an atheist
-a midwesterner
-a southerner
-the running-obsessed
-the dentistry student
-the chill
-the cinematic
-the one who lives in the library
-a sketch artist
-a critical designer
-an old confidant &
-the coolest cat on Physics 101
etc.

some thoughts that ran through my mind: pledging for Lambda?, whether to start conceptualizing for my new book project, essay in Design History, SF Love Parade this saturday, coffee, missin my boys, join IDSA?, whether or not to buy a Nikon Coolpix digicam...
so many decisions, so little time.

Advanced Design Project

PROJECT DETAILS:

" Everyone will do an analysis of their own cultural identity. Using the conceptual possibilities of outside and inside, a design representing cultural stereotype will be applied to the outside of the BOX, and the truth behind the cultural identity revealed from the inside. The design will consists of words, images, and objects.
The box needs to open in some way in order to reveal the inside. Think of all the possible ways the box can open/close. Choose a method that functions your concepts.
Don't forget that this is a package that will communicate a message. The walls are canvas for you to use in any way."

*3 more days and this project is due. After a gazillion conceptualizations, ideations and comps...I can honestly say that I've actually progressed and nearing completion. WORD!
